Your questions, answered.
Everything you might want to know.
Bookkeeping, BAS, pricing and how we work — the questions we hear most. Can't see yours? Just ask.
What does your bookkeeping service cover?
Day-to-day financial admin: invoicing, bill and supplier processing, bank reconciliations, plus BAS, PAYG, superannuation, payroll and monthly reporting.
Do you only work with supermarkets?
No. Supermarkets and their suppliers are a core strength, but we support all business types — retail, construction, trades and self-employed professionals.
Where are you based?
We're locally owned and operated at 2/134 Thompson Avenue, Cowes, on Phillip Island, and support clients across Victoria, including remotely via cloud accounting.
Can you take on books that are behind?
Yes. Catch-up and clean-up work is one of the most common reasons owners come to us. We'll get you up to date and keep you there.
How much does a bookkeeper cost?
Our bookkeeping starts from $80 per hour, and BAS preparation and lodgement is $120 per BAS. Larger or ongoing engagements can be packaged into a tailored fixed monthly fee so you know your costs up front. The first conversation is free — call 03 5643 7013 and we'll scope what you need and give you a clear quote.
How do we get started?
Call 03 5643 7013 or email admin@jabaabs.com.au. We start with a no-pressure chat about your business, then tailor the right level of support.
Do you work remotely, or do we need to be local?
We're based on Phillip Island but work with clients right across Victoria and beyond using cloud accounting — so wherever you are, we can help. We're always happy to meet locally too.
Which accounting software do you work with?
We work across the major platforms — Xero, MYOB, Reckon and Tanda — and can adapt to whatever system you already use. We're also technology partners with foundU for payroll and Pay.com.au for payments. Not set up yet? We'll help you choose the right tools and get you running.
Is there a lock-in contract?
No lock-in contracts. We earn your business month to month by doing great work.
How quickly can you get started?
Usually within a week of our first chat. If your books are behind, we'll agree a clear plan to bring them up to date first.
Do you do tax returns, or work with an accountant?
We focus on the bookkeeping, payroll and BAS side and work in with your existing tax accountant at year end — handing them clean, ready figures so your return is smoother. If you don't have a tax accountant, we can refer you to a trusted one.
What areas do you service?
Cowes and all of Phillip Island, the Bass Coast and South Gippsland, and clients across Victoria via cloud accounting.
